Miss Teen Philippines returns to the pageant scene after a four-year hiatus.
In a grand media event held at the Grand Ballroom of Marco polo Hotel in Ortigas yesterday (November 5), Reigning Miss Teen Philippines 2014 Reissha Nicole Villar Magadia takes the crown and walked the pageant stage once again to announce the return of Miss Teen Philippines in 2019.
Magadia is joined by fellow beauty titlist Miss Teen Philippines 2014 First Runner Up Chiara Ocampo, Finalist Bianca Willemsen who came all the way from Cebu, and former Kapuso actress and the very first Miss Teen Philippines winner in 2004 – Stephanie Sol, who also hosted the media event.
“We are very proud and excited at the same time to bring back Miss Teen Philippines,” said Miss Teen Philippines 2004 Stephanie Sol. “We all know that a lot of young girls dream of becoming a beauty queen. Miss Teen Philippines is their chance to make that dream come true and, at the same time, make a meaningful impact to society.”
Miss Teen Philippines 2019 will take the competition a notch higher by giving more attention to its objective and theme “global readiness through education.”
More than just a beauty search, the pageant will also serve as a platform for the eventual winner to become a youth ambassador. She will promote the importance of education by empowering the new generation in the global arena.
Joining the Miss Teen Philippines alumni on stage is Youth Empowerment Through Education Foundation Director Regine Angeles who will be leading the team that will bring the pageant back to life next year.
“We are looking for an exceptional winner who is not just a pretty face, but must also be at the forefront in promoting our cause and be a role model among her peers,” Angeles said. “Of course, we will also take into consideration the candidate’s personality. She should be outgoing and exudes the vibe of the younger generation.”
As a further step to realize this goal, Miss Teen Philippines has already tied up with various local government agencies to help facilitate the roll-out of the pageant’s projects.
“We have had initial talks with various government agencies, particularly Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, and National Youth Commission. So far, they are more than willing to extend assistance and make Miss Teen Philippines a partner in some of their initiatives,” enthused Angeles.
