DEADPOOL 2 can be attributed to a lavishly produced Saturday Night Live (SNL) spoof of several films, theme songs and comic book characters from both the DC and Marvel Universe. It’s the same “break the fourth wall” style of the first film but with more of the action, a lot of cameos and all the “Ryan Reynolds” you can handle.

WARNING: This review contains SPOILERS – so if you haven’t watched the film yet and you’re a very sensitive person, I suggest you stop reading this post.

Why are you still reading?

No, seriously you should stop reading now.

Okay, you’ve been warned.

The story starts with the film’s most serious element with Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) losing the love of his life Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) who is also called COPYCAT in the comic book version. She dies, Wade cannot – so that’s the first predicament.

And then her death brings Wade a purpose – protecting a young mutant boy named Russel Collins AKA FIREFIST (Julianne Dennison) from a vengeful time-traveling CABLE (Josh Brolin) and from himself. And this is where the story will make its many twists and turns.

In the film, we’ll also see the birth (and the quick end) of the Marvel comic book group X-FORCE featuring Domino (Zazie Beetz), Bedlam (Terry Crews), Shatterstar (Lewis Tan), Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgard), Peter (Rob Delaney) and “The Vanisher” which will later be revealed as Brad Pitt in a cameo role.  A crazy ensemble of misfits that was disbanded all too fast.

However, at the end of the film, viewers were treated to a promising revelation that might bring the whole crew back to good health.

Aside from the hilarious “other film” references that will start with a title sequence copied from the signature James Bond movie, Deadpool 2 will mock DC and Marvel characters like Batman, Professor Xavier, Thanos but mostly Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who will also make an appearance in the film.

The post credit scene is going to be the greatest highlight of the film as it will feature Reynold’s Deadpool having the most fun killing himself in the old DC (as Green Lantern) and Marvel (as Deadpool) franchises.

Deadpool 2 will bring the old characters back: Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Weasel (T.J. Miller), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) and Dopinder (Karan Soni). The film will also introduce new cast like Shiori Kutsuna (I forgot her witch mutant name), Jack Kesy as Black Tom and the Juggernaut!

Kudos to director David Leitch (Atomic Blonde) for making this film extra fun!

This is an R16 movie by the way – for intense violence with lots of humor. 🙂
