“It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love. It matters only that you love.” – John Lennon

I believe that our capacity for love, as human beings, is great, and that we all have our own different ways of showing it. But the ones that truly knows how to express it best are the artists – writers, poets, painters, dancers and musicians.

We Filipinos are blessed (or cursed) with being overly sentimental, hopeless romantics as they say, and those that are artistically inclined have the tendency to spread sentimentality like a virus. That’s why we linger on special celebrations such as birthdays, mothers’ day, fathers’ day, grandparents’ day, Christmas and of course valentine’s. We just don’t ever want these celebrations to end.

For example, can you count the number of upcoming valentine themed concerts and other events that we have this year in Mega Manila?

OPM Icon and pop diva KUH LEDESMA explained it best last week during a media conference held at Japan Town in Ayala Malls Vertis North,

“Everybody wants to go out on valentine, especially sa mga Filipinos, very romantic ang mga Filipino – ‘pag hindi ka idi-nate ng boyfriend mo, parang hindi ka na agad mahal. The market for us performers on valentine’s day is that huge.”

KUH LEDESMA will be having her own valentine concert on February 13 at the new Vertis Tent in Ayala Malls Vertis North entitled “LOVE MATTERS”. She considers the event as another highlight of her 40-year career as a singer-performer because this is the very first time that she’ll be doing a valentine concert in the north side of Mega Manila.

The Vertis Tent has been home to several ABS CBN events since its launch last November. It is the first large capacity (2,000 pax) air-conditioned tent venue in Quezon City.

Very few recording artists today can claim the title of a “singer” and “pop icon” at the same time. It will require you to have immortal songs of the likes of “Dito Ba”, “Bulaklak”, “Till I Met You”, “One More Try”, “I Think I’m In Love”, “Sino Ang Baliw” and of course “Ako Ay Pilipino” and “Paano Kita Pasasalamatan” which were already elevated to anthem status in many educational institutions here in the Philippines.

More than being a singer, Kuh is also a wonderful story-teller and her stories are all about love.

“It’s so much fun to sing love songs, I love to sing romantic songs, I love to put people in a loving mood.” she said during the conference.

Joining her in LOVE MATTERS are RnB Prince Kris Lawrence, Isabella Gonzalez and Gabby Concepcion.

KUH who has rekindled her spiritual relationship with God as a Christian said that she now has a deeper understanding of what LOVE is all about.

Her newfound religious fervor also serves as her compass in all her undertakings in and out of the entertainment industry. She admitted that it will be limiting – in the sense that she now has some personal guidelines on what songs to sing or acting roles to take – but that doesn’t mean that she’s already going to hang up the boots.

In fact, KUH is in the process of completing a “Latin” and “Inspirational” album,¬†she’s also co-writing for a film project that they plan to release this year.

Isabella on the other hand is also working on her 2nd album while Kris Lawrence has an album in the works right now under Homeworks and targeting the end of February as its release date. Kris is also currently hosting “Wishcovery” on Wish 107.5.

LOVE MATTERS will be an exciting and interesting mix of songs and love stories so CATCH Kuh Ledesma, Kris Lawrence, Isabella and Gabby Concepcion on February 13 at the Vertis Tent of Ayala Malls Vertis North.

So when people accuses you of being overly sentimental, tell them that it’s okay. Take them to the LOVE MATTERS concert to show them that you are not alone because¬†in the end love is really all that matters.

LOVE MATTERS the Concert is presented by ALV Events International in partnership with the Ayala Malls Vertis North. For Tickets call Ticketworld (891-9999), or the Ayala Malls concierge areas at Trinoma (901-5700), UP Town Center (621-3275) or Vertis North (718-5000 local 6366).
