2017 has been a great year for both Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid – the Kapuso tandem also known for the moniker #GabRu which has steady growing fanbase on social media.

Ever since they got the lead roles in GMA Network’s reboot of Encantadia as Alena (Gabbi) and Ybarro (Ruru) – the two have received project offers in and out of the entertainment industry. Gabbi has been a favorite cover girl of many glossy mags in the Philippines, she also received endorsement offers left and right.

Ruru on the other hand got his first Best Actor Award during the 31st PMPC Star Awards for Television this year for his role in Encantadia tied with Dingdong Dantes for Alyas Robinhood.

The two also made many heads turn during their fashion walk on the Bench Under The Stars stage.

RURU MADRID ( Jose Ezekiel Misa Madrid) who hailed from GMA Network’s “Protege: The Battle For The Big Artista Break” has been active in showbiz for five years since 2012. While he got several lead parts in TV series in the past like “Dormitoryo”, “My Destiny”, “Let The Love Begin” and “Naku, Boss Ko!” –  it was his role as Ybarro in Encantadia that made all the big difference in his career.

After Encantadia, Ruru also played lead as Andres in season 2 of “Alyas Robin Hood” alongside Dingdong Dantes, and coming very soon is another exciting new TV series project called “Sherlock Jr.”

Ruru, who I got to talk with last Thursday, said that he’s very excited with the new project. Aside from it being a comeback project for #GabRu after Encantadia, “Sherlock Jr.” is also an action-drama series.

We all know how scarce action-themed stories are for both local TV & Films, that’s why for someone who loves action like Ruru, being able to be in one is already a dream come true. And if you follow him on IG, you’ll probably know that he’s quite built for that right now, physically.

Aside from Gabbi Garcia, joining Ruru also in the series are Janine Gutierrez and a dog named Serena. The story of Sherlock Jr. is still a little sketchy, not much has been revealed yet, but Ruru promised that it will be an exciting action-packed series.

Ruru and Gabbi will also be one of the stars in the film Meant To Beh featuring Vic Sotto and Dawn Zulueta, the MMFF entry of Octoarts Films, M-Zet Productions and APT Entertainment.

Ruru turned 20 last December 4 (Monday). Fans have gathered last Thursday to greet him as GMA Artist Center organized a simple get-together at Cave Tomas Morato. The event was hosted by TOP’s Joshua Jacobe and sponsored by Goldilocks, Belo and Tatiomax.
