Just like its owner, once in a while, my humble Lumix bridge camera gets to feast on luxury – and in the case of last Tuesday’s dibs on the Philippine School of Interior Design’s (PSID) graduation exhibit at Uptown Mall BGC – a buffet of GOLD!
In its 50 years, PSID has produced some of the finest interior designers in the industry and in this year’s exhibition, the illustrious past meets the future movers and shakers of the design world as it mounts GOLD which stands for both its 50 successful years and as an acronym for “Glamorous, Opulent, and Luxurious Designs.”
For the first time in PSID history, the school’s students, alumni and faculty have joined forces to showcase their brightest design ideas. 23 exquisitely-designed spaces that highlight different design trends of the last five decades all with a touch GOLD.
The #PSIDGold exhibit will run from October 1 until the end of the month.
Here’s a quick visual tour on what they have installed so far in their respective booths. Most of the exhibits though are still not yet 100% complete. Go through all the designs first – I’ll tell you my favorites at the end and then you tell me yours on the comment section below. 🙂

Based on the use of design elements, materials and functionality, I would say that experience wins by a KO in this year’s #PSIDGold exhibit. I personally love the linear aesthetics of the KintsukuRoom of Gino & Karen Abrea (Booth 17). The mirror on the side was brilliantly planted to magically project the continuity of the design making the room look absolutely larger and even more beautiful.
The graduating students however did put-up a great fight! I love the simplicity of the Neo-Archipelago T&B but that wall needs to be improved. The Industrial Luxe Kitchen is a wow! I just didn’t like the Kitchen table cabinets. The Contemporary Neo Classic dining area is eye candy. The Contemporary Egyptian T&B was weird but awesome. The Pop Art dining area would absolutely look good in a resto. While the Modern Deconstructivism study room is going to be every fashion designer’s dream room.
Everything in the exhibit were creatively done! But if I am to choose which of the design concepts I would love to have in my house, I would choose – Michael Pizarro‘s Bedroom (Booth 13) and Mary Ann Bulanadi‘s Den and Study (Booth 15).
#PSIDGold is co-presented by Megaworld in cooperation with Boysen, Schema, Shell Canvas, La Europa, Designery, Daikin, and Tecson Flowers.
Exhibit opens on Sunday (October 1) at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City until the end of the month. Go and take a look and tell me your favorites.
