Nyoy Volante, Yanah Laurel and Laurence Mossman headlines in the upcoming Manila production of the hit broadway musical KINKY BOOTS!

Coming from the book by Harvey Fierstein and the music of 80’s pop star Cyndi Lauper, KINKY BOOTS THE MUSICAL – which took inspiration from the 2005 British film of the same title written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth – premiered at the Chicago Bank of America Theater in 2012.

It made its Broadway debut a year after and received a season-high 13 Tony Award nominations that same year and won six trophies including Best Musical and Cyndi Lauper with Best Score.

Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS tells  the story of CHARLIE PRICE, who after inheriting a shoe factory from his father, decided to partner with a drag queen named LOLA to produce a new line of high-heeled boots to save the business. Centered on the unlikely pair, the story delves on self-discovery and that old adage,

“when you change your mind about someone, you can change the whole world”

Bringing the musical to Manila is Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group (Saturday Night Fever, The Bridges of Madison County, Hairspray, Carrie, etc) together with Metrobank Card Corporation. It is scheduled to open on June 30, 2017 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.

Leading the cast as LOLA (Simon) in the Manila production of KINKY BOOTS is everybody’s favorite cross-dresser NYOY VOLANTE.

Nyoy, is the romantic balladeer and recording artist who brought to life many of the new millennium’s OPM acoustic favorites and revivals. But not known to many, Nyoy’s first love is theater. He was on stage first performing for theater loving crowds before he started recording songs and doing concerts.

Coming out fresh from his role as Frankie Valli in the Manila production of Broadway’s favorite jukebox musical “JERSEY BOYS” – Nyoy is now back to his most favorite element, being spectacularly different, fun and wearing high-heeled boots dancing to cabaret music.

Here’s an exclusive interview with Nyoy:
