I have heard a lot about Microtel Inn & Suites By Wyndham, particularly the one located at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
People talked about their wonderful rooms, budget rates and excellent service – and so I was curious to find out if it’s all true.
Since I am from Manila, I would normally book a hotel room only when I am on a trip out of town. However, the week from May 15 to 21 was loaded with work and blog-related events that I decided to spare me a few travel woes by booking a room at Microtel Inn & Suites Mall of Asia on the 16th and 17th since all my appointments are in that area.
I booked the only room that is available which is a 2 Queen Beds Non Smoking Room with Complimentary Buffet Breakfast at their in-hotel restaurant Millie’s All Day Dining. The published rate for that room is 4,700 Pesos including tax and other fees.
Checked in at around 2pm and checked out the following day at 12nn. I didn’t know then that they have a free hotel shuttle service to and from SM Mall of Asia so I walked coming from an event at the Mall. It’s really no hassle because Microtel is located just across the SMX Convention Center and Conrad Manila.
Now, what’s cool about Microtel Inn & Suites Mall of Asia is that they’ve got rooms and a rooftop swimming pool that has a killer view of the Manila Bay area. And that already is a gem for that budget rate.
Also, the rooms at Microtel is larger than most budget hotels and way classier to look at. The beds are also very comfortable and did I mention about the view from the window?
Of course, Conrad Manila has a better view and a much larger window but the price for a stay is way larger too.
I love the cabinet inside the room and they also have a mini fridge. But I was kinda bummed that slippers are not included in the amenities. But they do have TV, Wi-Fi, hair dryers, a safety deposit box and a complete toiletries set.
Outside in each floor and near the elevator, you’ll find a water dispenser, an ice maker and hand sanitizers.
Food at Millie’s was great and the staff at Microtel Inn & Suites Mall of Asia were all courteous and friendly. I’ve noticed though that most of their guests are foreigners and based on my eavesdropping ability during breakfast, some of them are there because they have some kind of business transactions.
I totally enjoyed my stay at Microtel Inn & Suites – a bit pricey for a budget hotel but worth it, hope they could offer more deals and discounts.
Hope to visit their other locations too at Acropolis, Baguio, Batangas, Boracay, Cabanatuan, Eagle Ridge, Davao, General Santos, Palawan, South Forbes, Tarlac and UP Technohub.
