TV5 in a grand media event held last Wednesday (May 10) at Aracama The Fort in BGC Taguig, announced its one-of-a-kind reality travel and adventure show that features presidential son SEBASTIAN “BASTE” DUTERTE in his very first television show.

LAKBAI is a play on the Tagalog word “Lakbay” which means “Travel” in English. It is also the condensed form of “Lakaw Ta Bai” a Davaoeno statement which translates to “Lakad na, kaibigan” in Tagalog or “Tara Na!” in Filipino slang.

Kudos to the person who thought of that title – very clever.

According to the producers, LAKBAI is more than just a travel program that showcases the usual sights and popular destinations in the country.

Aside from the different captivating locations that will be featured in each episode LAKBAI’s 8-week special program on TV5 will explore the camaraderie, adventures (and misadventures) between the show’s LAKBAI biyaheros as they experience the most exciting places in the Philippines and its many different culture.

Joining Baste Duterte are three of his most closest friends – Atty. Alexis “Pambansang Photobomber” Lumbatan, cool bro Sboi Malicay  and the group’s designated videographer Andrei Apostol.

Making the trips more exciting and informative is Davao-born YouTube sensation Bogart The Explorer as the deignated tour guide of the group.

In an exclusive interview, Baste Duterte said that aside from the money (talent fee), what made him say yes to the project is his love for travel and adventure.

When asked if he would consider acting offers after LAKBAI – Baste Duterte said that he’s not very comfortable with acting but he did mention ‘music’ as something he would readily take on anytime – he’s not the ‘social media rockstar’ for nothing.

Baste also said that the show will be featuring celebrity guests but prefers people (even non-showbiz folks) who has a connection (or some relevant inputs) with the place that they are visiting.

“Malalalim kaming tao, ayaw lang namin kung sino-sino lang basta.” Atty. Lumbatan jokingly said during the interview.

He also said that he has no problem with Ellen (Adarna) guesting in LAKBAI – if the producers sees it fit.

“Sino bang Ellen? Ellen Vela?” and that’s Atty. Lumbatan making another hilarious side comment during the interview.

Surprisingly, the chemistry between the shows stars are very good. I’ve seen the teaser as well and I was amazed with the quality of the shoot.

For those who want to know Baste Duterte more and of course the places that he and his friends are visiting for eight weeks – make sure to book your couch every Sunday after the PBA game on TV5 starting the 21st of May!
