Yes, it may appear that OUR MIGHTY YAYA movie star Aiai Delas Alas looks a lot like the character “Nanny McPhee” from the UK Box Office Hit film of the same title, but Direk Jose Javier Reyes said that the only magical powers that Aiai’s character possessed in this film is her BIG HEART.

The statement caught the attention of online media guests during a blogcon held at Valencia Events Place in San Juan last Monday (May 8) hours before its red carpet premiere.

All the lead cast were present except for Megan Young. But the Miss World 2013 Kapuso actress was present during the premiere and the after party.

OUR MIGHTY YAYA is Regal Entertainment’s Mother’s Day special feature that stars multi-awarded actress Aiai Delas Alas as Yaya Virgie. She told online media that the sacrifices of her character in the film is a lot similar to the ones she’d experience in real life – specially with regards to enduring the heartache of being away from her kids because she has to work and make a living.

Aiai’s commitment to her craft is maybe the secret to all her success. For example, in this film, Zoren Legaspi revealed that Aiai even bought – out of her own money – the dentures that she used for the character of Yaya Virgie.

Aiai recently took home the Best Actress Award in the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) for the indie film “AREA” where she portrays the role of a sex worker.

Also present during blogcon were Zoren Legaspi, Sofia Andres, Lukas Magallano and Alyson McBride.

Direk Joey Reyes said that OUR MIGHTY YAYA pays tribute to our “mighty yaya” (nannies) and in most cases here in the Philippines our all-around “kasambahay” who not only takes good care of our homes when the parents are not around but also acts as second parents.

It’s a different kind of Mother’s Day story that is guaranteed to not only tickle our funny bones but also warm our hearts.

OUR MIGHTY YAYA opens on Mother’s Day (May 10) in theaters nationwide.
