EKODEMYA, which was inaugurated two Fridays ago (January 27) is a project of the Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) in partnership with QBE Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Australian base QBE Insurance Group currently present in 38 countries worldwide including the US, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

The QBE Foundation and DTC multifaceted partnership was officially launched in February last year during the 30th year anniversary of the People Power revolution. The two group worked together to deliver a long-term program designed to fulfill the promise of education for a generation of disadvantaged Filipino schoolchildren from primary through to tertiary levels.

Through QBE Foundation funding, the ECODEMYA Senior High School Facility in Amadeo, Cavite is now at its final stage of construction.

To date, there are 27 Grade 11 Senior High School students catered by the program. ECODEMYA is already open for applications. The screening process is being scheduled within the three national high schools near the vicinity of the campus – Amadeo National High School, Pangil National High School and Banay-Banay National High School.

“QBE’s partnership with DTC is a blessing,” says Efren Penaflorida during the launch, “Finding sufficient funds to sustain our efforts (at DTC) is an omgoing challenge. The support QBE gives us makes us more confident and determined that we can help more children and change their lives for the better.”

Aside from Efren Penaflorida and the whole DTC team, also present during the inauguration were Subra Ramakrishnan (QBE SVP of Strategy), Arthur Arana (QBE SVP for Finance Support), Karen Batungbacal-De Venecia (QBE GSSC, General Manager) and Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla.
