It was a BloodRush Party last week at the Trinoma Activity Center as Sangobion IRON+ launches its “Win Your Day” TV commercial and music video together with brand ambassador and Pop royalty Sarah Geronimo and the Anemix Girls.
The activity started with a special media forum at Mango Tree Trinoma presented by Dr. Zaida Gamilla who explained the dangers of Anemia and how we can fight it.
According to Dr. Gamilla, one out of four people are at risk of anemia here in the Philippines. Anemia, caused by iron deficiency, can greatly impact a person’s physical and cognitive performance thus affecting the overall work productivity. In fact, the World Health Organization revealed that between 20 and 39.9% of women in the country aged 15-49 years suffer from anemia (The Global Prevalence of Anaemia in 2011, authored by the World Health Organization).
The symptoms of moderate severe anemia are as follows:
- Shortness of breath
- Change in stool color
- Muscle pains
- Pale and Yellowing skin color
Eventually, anemia when not treated properly may cause spleen enlargement, severe fatigue, fainting and other serious problems like angina and heart attack that may lead to death.
Here are some photos of Sarah Geronimo during the BloodRush Party:
Pioneering the fight against this disease is international pharmaceutical company, Merck Inc., through its iron supplement brand for adults – Sangobion IRON+
Merck Inc. Philippines Head of Marketing, Consumer Health, Debbie Go said,
“A significant number of Filipinos, particularly women, are affected by anemia and don’t even realize it. We expect that this campaign will encourage them to be more conscious of their blood health, and take the necessary steps to fight anemia so they can go about each day in winning form.”
Also joining the Sangobion IRON+ “Win Your Day” campaign launch were OTC Sales Manager Marlon Carpizo and RX Sales Manager Arthur Dapasen.
Sangobion IRON+ is Ferrous Gluconate, a better absorbed version of elemental iron. Better absorption means better chances of fighting the signs of iron deficiency like weakness, fatigue and lack of concentration. Aside from iron, it also contains Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Copper Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate and Sorbitol (an anti-constipating agent).
Also featured in the “Win Your Day” campaign music video alongside Sarah Geronimo are the members of the Anemic Girls – five talented women who were able to overcome their anemia with the help of Sangobion IRON+.
They are fondly known by their superhero names: Tired Ellaine, Sickly Paula, Pale Sheena, Distracted Princess, and Dizzy Apple.
Selected through a series of Sangobion IRON+ activities that took place over several months last year, the girls went through several tests of physical energy, including a karaoke challenge. Armed with golden voices and the eagerness to win their day, the five stood out from hundreds of candidates and proved to be the perfect companions of Sarah Geronimo in the music video.
The BloodRush Party and “Win Your Day” launch was hosted by Patty Laurel-Filart.
