It’s not everyday you see some of the country’s most effective comedians gathered together in one place, sharing their soft and deeper side.
GMA Social Media Team invited some of the cast of top-rated GMA comedy shows BUBBLE GANG, ISMOL FAMILY and PEPITO MANALOTO for an afternoon Kapuso Komedy Festival together with Manila’s lifestyle and showbiz bloggers at the TGIF Restaurant in QC.
Joining us that day were Ruffa Mae Quinto, Paolo Contis, Chariz Solomon, Kevin Santos, Mosang and Boobay.
One of the first questions that popped that totally set the mood to a more mellow but still happy tone is all about how they started doing comedy.
HOW DID THEY END UP TO BE COMEDIANS?
Ruffa Mae Quinto
Ruffa Mae now 37, started in showbiz in the afternoon teen variety show That’s Entertainment and went on to do dozens of films (mostly doing sexy roles) but the film that really made a mark on her career was the comedy movie “Booba” in 2001, the same year when she joined Bubble Gang.
After guesting at Star Talk people saw that she has the potential of being a comedian. Her very first comedy role was with Marian Rivera and Richard Gutierrez for the movie “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend”.
“Nag start kasi ako sa theater, first time nga namin magkita ni peachy (Ruffa Mae) noong 1995 sa isang serious play sa Intramuros. My first TV gig was with Teysi Ng Tahanan.
Mosang is very active in the theater scene up until today, in fact she will be starring in the Filipino adaptation of Federico Garcia Lorca’s “The House of Bernarda Alba” which will be staged this November as PERATEDES directed by Harry David – she will be playing the lead as Dolores Peratedes.
Masarap kasi magpatawa, very challenging.”
Kevin like Chariz started his career with StarStruck in 2004. Last year, he was awarded by the Golden Screen TV Awards as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in My Husband’s Lover.
Tapos nung mga 5 years old ako pumutok ang Pinatubo at naging napaka-bagal ng phasing ng buhay namin.
Boobay or Norman Balbuena can be seen in many other GMA TV shows like Celebrity Bluff.
“May talent akong magpatawa e.
I am big fan of Paolo Contis and I consider him as one of the most versatile actors that we have today.
Even as a young child actor during the early years of Star Cinema, Paolo has exhibited excellence in portraying difficult roles in both comedy and drama. Right now, Paolo is voted as one of the most convincing and most sought after ‘kontrabida’ in Philippine Television. Funny but seriously deadly! hehehe
