I first learned of Acai Berry during a health and wellness seminar that I’ve attended a couple of years back.
I am a big fan of organic supplements and natural remedies and have worked hard to minimize the use of synthetic medications at home. For example, we have Lagundi as a cough remedy and have replaced our fluoride-based toothpaste with an Aloe Vera Toothgel with bee propolis, which is best for people who are really not too thrilled with dental appointments and wants to salvage the teeth that they have left, just like me. Our daily supplement includes Royal Jelly, Bee Propolis, Psyllium Fiber, Organic Green Teas, Wheatgrass and Aloe Vera Juice.
Last Thursday (July 30), I was re-acquainted with the famous Acai Berry through the special media presentation of the benefits of Acai facilitated by Organique Incorporated led by its Vice President for Marketing Ms. Catherine Salimbangon.
A registered nurse, Cathy worked in Geriatrics in the United States and Canada for several years. She saw how lifestyle impacted one’s body. This was what prompted her and husband Elton, who worked in the nutraceuticals industry, to launch Organique Acai Premium Blend in 2009.
The Acai is the tallest palm tree in the Amazon jungle, growing up to 80 feet. Its small, dark purple berries have been a staple in the diet of the indigenous people of Brazil for centuries. Considered by many to be the top superfood with one of the best nutritional contents, the Acai berry has more antioxidants than any other fruit or vegetables combined.
Organique Acai Premium Blend on the other hand is a pure and potent drink enhanced with all other natural juice extracts such as organic evaporated cane juice, apple juice concentrate, acerola juice, green tea extract to create a smooth, healthy and delicious drink that you can take on its own or mixed with other juices and your favorite smoothies.
“Among those available in the market today, our product has the highest concentration of Acai and we are USDA organic-certified,” claims Ms. Salimbangon.
The USDA Organic seal indicates that the contents of a product is 95% or more certified organic. Meaning, free of synthetic additives like pesticides, chemical fertilizers and dyes and must not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation or genetic engineering.
The presentation last Tuesday was held at Prime 101 in Chino Roces, Makati City attended by different media people and bloggers. Miss Salimbangon is joined by wellness icon and host Cory Quirino and celebrity mom and dance diva Regine Tolentino who discussed their wellness regimens and experience in taking Organique Acai Premium Blend.
What makes Acai (pronounced as Ah Sa Hee) a great natural supplement is its high amount of antioxidants which combats cellular damage. It has all the basic vitamins and minerals that our body needs aside from being high in dietary fiber.
“Our cells are constantly being attacked by free radicals from the pollutants around us, antioxidants help repair them,” Ms. Salimbangon simplifies. “With Organique Acai Premium Blend, your body is replenished. You have more energy, signs of aging are delayed, your immune system is strengthened,” she added.
Acai berries also contain omega oils which is necessary for the proper function of the brain and cardiovascular system.
The Director of BioVitale Holistic Center Dr. Sonny Viloria said that Acai Berry has one of the highest ORAC values. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity which is a method of measuring the antioxidant capacities of food. According t0 recent studies, Acai Berry is ranked 7th over-all with a value of 102,700. The highest on the list is cloves with 314,446. Strawberries, the nearest relative of the Acai Berry here in the Philippines only got a value of 3,577.
Unfortunately, Ms. Salimbangon announced that growing Acai Berry locally here in the Philippines is not possible since it favors a certain soil and environmental condition available only in the Amazon jungle. The good news however is that we can enjoy the powerful benefits of Acai without going to South America through Organique Acai Premium Blend. The product which is available in 946ml bottles is distributed in the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Middle East and in the Philippines.
Each bottle is sold at an SRP of 2,500 pesos in all Mercury Drug, Pure Pharmacy, Robinson’s Supermarket, South Star Drug and Watsons branches nationwide.
The recommended dose of Organique Acai Premium Blend is 30-60ml per day depending on the health conditions of the person. You can actually take as many as you want or need without the danger of overdose since it is basically a healthy juice drink. Ms. Salimbangon said that Organique Acai Premium Blend is best taken with an empty stomach.
