Meralco KLOAD | Go Prepaid Kuryente Load and Save up to 20% on Electricity Consumption

There’s a new convenient and more practical way to pay our electricity bill and it also aims to teach us the value of energy conservation and proper budgeting.  MERALCO KURYENTE LOAD or KLOAD, the first prepaid electricity service in the Philippines is now available in Manila and in some portions of Rizal, Pasig, San Juan, Cavite, Caloocan and Bulacan.

Last Thursday, I visited the Meralco Espana Branch not to pay my bills but to talk to the major proponents of this wonderful project from the Philippine’s biggest electricity distribution company.

It’s nice to hear that MERALCO is really very committed to their promise of coming-out with innovative ideas that will provide more convenience to all their customers and most especially the Filipino households.  Three years ago the Meralco MoVE App was born and now a faster way of getting powered is sweeping Mega Manila and nearby provinces through a special intelligent meter built specifically for the all new prepaid MERALCO KURYENTE LOAD.

MERALCO KLOAD

It was my first time to hear about Kuryente Load last Thursday.  According to MERALCO representatives, over 8,000 satisfied KLOAD customers are now enjoying the new KLOAD prepaid electricity services and so far, the system is working very effectively.  KLOAD subscribers are now more empowered, dignified and disciplined electricity users.  The emotional benefits of the new system outweighs the practical benefits and it’s a win-win situation for both the consumers and MERALCO.

MERALCO said that customers are able to save up to 20% on electricity bills after replacing their regular meters with the intelligent meters of the new KLOAD prepaid electricity. This is attributed to consumption control which is a direct result of the pay-before-use system that gives people power over their over-all electricity consumption and since they get updated regularly about their daily consumption, households can now monitor, make projections and adjust their electricity use to fit their daily, weekly or monthly budget.

It’s a brilliant idea!

The KLOAD prepaid electricity system is not meant to replace nor compete with the existing subscription and payment system of MERALCO but rather offer a more practical alternative to new home owners, developers, lessors (apartment and condo owners), and other households who are looking for a better and smarter way to monitor their electricity consumption. You won’t rely on MERALCO people to read and interpret your electric consumption anymore, you can already do that yourself and with greater transparency too.

The new KLOAD system technically provides more peace of mind for both lessors and tenants.  Tenants are now more secured, worrying about landlords over-charging for electricity consumption can now be just a thing of the past.  Lessors on the other hand will not worry anymore about tenants leaving and not paying their electricity bills because it’s all prepaid!

Although it’s possible, but I think the KLOAD system would not be advisable though for big single unit establishments like malls, resorts and hotels and other industrial corporations who are heavily dependent on a steady use of electricity 24/7.

  1. Subscribers get a FREE Daily Balance Update via SMS.  They also receive RELOAD confirmations and LOW LOAD reminders so there’s no worry of not reloading before your load runs out.
  2. If in case your load runs out before you’re able to reload, MERALCO promises an automatic reconnection within 5 minutes after you reload.  No reconnection fees or visit to the MERALCO office needed!
  3. LOAD anytime and anywhere via Meralco Business Centers, Bayad Centers, and E-Load retailers in Sari-Sari Stores, Generika drugstores, Mini Stop outlets and Robinsons Malls.
  4. LOAD are available in 100, 200, 300, 500 and 1,000 denominations.
  5. No bill deposit, no installation fee and no load expiration date.  You absolutely don’t have to pay anything except for your electricity consumption.

  1. hindi po ok yung prepaid load. kahit nka off yung fuse nagbabawas pa din. mas malaki pa nababawas. pano nangyari yun? madalas 8 hours lang ako nasa apartment, tapos ang laki ng nababawas, electricfan, ilaw at charger lang gumagana. Yung dating 100php, bill ko na yun ng 1 month, samantalang ngayon sa prepaid load, halos 1 week lang yung 100 ko. Nasan po ang hustisya dun? kala ko ba mas makakatipid?????

Para sa mga minimal lang ang usage HINDI sya FAVORABLE because It’s as if merong MINIMUM USAGE PER DAY na binabawas kahit without any consumption in a day at all.I’ve observed it and kahit walang tao sa bahay, meaning wala ring gumamit ng kuryente for one whole day yet may bawas pa rin yung load namin. Surprisingly the deduction was the same rate of kWh as the rate being deducted kapag may usage.
    Noong postpaid kami 45kWh lang average monthly usage (which is more than Php200 lang per month due to lifeline discount pa) ngayong naging prepaid everyday nababawasan ang load namin ng 3.11 kWh per day which is 93.3 kWh every month (which will cost us almost Php820 a month) that is MORE THAN 4x of our BILL.
    So contrary to what MERALCO said “that customers are able to save up to 20% on electricity bills after replacing their regular meters with the intelligent meters of the new KLOAD prepaid electricity”, obviously we’re spending way more and aside that, kapag bumili ka pa ng load sa sari-sari store they top it up with extra Php10 for every Php100 load, yeah you read it right, so kung Php500 that would become Php550 all-in-all. Nasaan din ang savings doon?
    Nasaang banda ang konsepto na “consumption control which is a direct result of the pay-before-use system that gives people power over their over-all electricity consumption”?
    I tried calling their customer service and mauubos lang spare time mo waiting sa tagal ng queue.

    • Ganun po ang ngyayari sa akin,,umaabot na nga ako ng 3k monthly na dati pinakamataas ko ay 600..parang sobrang laki naman..

  4. This is perhaps good for apartments of minimal usage. Pero nakakatanggap na din ako ng reklamo from our tenants.
    katulad ng iba, nababawasan din ang load nila kahit hindi naman nagagamit ang kuryente. They may be right, kasi out tenants in doors D, E, F (ABC were on postpaid) complaint the same. Our tenants move out of the apartment before 6am and return around 8 in the evening, mahigit 12hours silang wala sa bahay and they keep their main switch off but still deducted with the load.
    To validate their complaint, i monitor it for a week, and true, me bawas talaga kahit di nagagamit.I think i should pay a visit to cainta meralco office then.

Meron po sa amin nag offer ng K Load, then nagorient kasama ang barangay chairman namin…sabi nila may babayaran kami na 4,200 pero kapag kasama na daw lahat ng installation 5,700 ang bayaran namin… then pwede na daw kami magdown ng kalahati kaya marami sa amin ang nagdown ng 2,100.. Makatutuhanan po ba ito kasi base sa pinakitang video ng website nila 200 lng ang kailangan bayaran… please reply para habang di pa sila nagc.i. sa amin may chance pa mabawi yung down payment namin…

    • I think it might be a scam.. make sure that you’re dealing with real meralco personnel or it’s best that you go to the nearest meralco office and report the incident

Walang kagandahan ang Kuryente load, di makatarungan na bigla ka nalang puputulan ng kuryente kahit may available ka pang balance dahil lang sinisingil ka sa rate adjustment kuno na di malaman kung saan nanggaling, samanralang di naman kami nawawalan ng load at kung may nakunsumo man kami automatiko ninyong binabawas sa load. Maraming kayong numeric explanation kapag may reklamo pero kapag naghihikayat kayo na subukan ang serbisyo ninyo lahat ng mabulaklak na salita sasambitin ninyo pero wala kayong magawa na solusyon sa simpleng hinaing ng customer ninyo. Kulang sa orientation ang mga tauhan ninyo at attitude dahil simple sorry di ninyo masambit para sa palpak na serbisyo ninyo at mapakalma ang bwiset na customer ninyo. Meralco sana di puro pera ang bugay kayo ng totoo at matinong serbisyo, double check ninyo din ang background na mga tauhan ninyo na nakaupo sa pwesto.

  13. Your hotline no.is not working!!! I’ve been calling for days already, it just keeps on ringing and no one is answering. I would just like to clarify regarding the rate adjustment of P287.41, as i was debited twice for the same amount only 3days apart?!?
