At Gumbo, size really does matter!  Well at least they have their very own definition of the word petite and grande which I recently got introduced to.

It’s really hard to find a seat at a good restaurant, usually at dinner time most tables are occupied or have reservations already.  Almon Marina and Racks were our first choices last Sunday at Robinsons Place Manila but they were all full.  After minutes of searching we ended up at Gumbo’s and decided to wait for a seat.  And luckily, we didn’t wait for very long.

It was our first time here.  Looking at the menu, we have already set our minds to trying out their Mozzarella Sticks first as appetizer – but as we scanned through the whole list of dishes, we ended up ordering a Chicken Parmigiana Petite (395), Quattro Formaggio Pizza Grande (575), Baked Lasagna Petite (375) and Seafood and Chicken Jambalaya (500++).

We assumed that our orders are good for four people since we ordered three PETITE dishes and a GRANDE pizza only!  But apparently, their PETITE was not so petite after all.  It was good for 2 people at least and the Jambalaya was good for all of us.  The funny thing was their GRANDE pizza was not so Grande at all – we were expecting something like ‘Yellow Cab’ huge but it was just a regular large.

We were not able to finish everything, so we had for take home a couple slices of pizza, a quarter of the Chicken Parmigiana and Jambalaya.

Anyway, the food was very satisfying, both pasta dishes were extremely delicious and the blue cheese on that pizza was overpowering.  It’s money well spent!

GUMBO is also at MOA, The Block, Mega Atrium and Gateway!
