YAGIT is now entering its sixth month of airing on GMA Network.  A surprised hit drama series that began last October 2014, it has already surpassed the regular one season length of teleseryes in the Philippines.  Based on the 1983 drama of the same title that stars Jaypee De Guzman, Amy Austria, Janet Elisa Giron, Jocelyn Dela Cruz and Tom Tom, YAGIT tells about the story of four youngsters who has to endure the hardships of street life, poverty and being orphans.

A bit of a trivia for you about the new YAGIT series:

  • The new YAGIT kids was a product of an intensive audition program, those who made the cut were Chlaui Malayao (Elisa), Zymic Jaranilla (Ding), Judie Dela Cruz (Jocelyn) and Jemwell Ventinilla (Tom-Tom).  Added later in the series is Stephanie Yamut as Tiff.
  • The international title for the 1983 YAGIT was ‘The Street Urchins’ while the 2014 version is called ‘Pushcart of Dreams.’

As a sign of gratitude for all the viewers’ support as well as to give back to the communities for all the blessings that the cast of the series has received, YAGIT actors staged a special show at Enchanted Kingdom last Sunday (March 29) and treated the street kids beneficiaries of He Cares Foundation to an afternoon of fun, games and FREE UNLIMITED RIDES.

It was a YAGIT SUMMER FUN AT EK party that started with a film showing of the last two episodes of YAGIT, followed by a program that features all the main cast of the TV series.

RENZ FERNANDEZ who plays the role of Gen. Roman Marasigan in the series, facilitated a balloon popping game for the He Cares Foundation kids.  The fastest group to pop and form the word Y A G I T wins the game.  Winners get to have some YAGIT souvenir items.

INA FELEO who’s part of the extended cast of the series as Imelda Macabuhay also facilitated a game but this time inviting people from the audience to play ‘Longest Line.’

BETTINA CARLOS (Izel Lorena – Guison) and KEVIN SANTOS (Kardo Macabuhay) played the ‘Trip To Jerusalem’ game with selected female members of the audience.

JAMES BLANCO (Victor Guison) got the biggest cheers from the audience and gave away an electric fan to one lucky youngster who was able to answer his ‘on-the-spot’ trivia question about YAGIT.

MARICRIS GARCIA (Ce Ce Ortega Guison) rendered two song numbers for the audience.

LJ REYES (Flora Macabuhay) came out dancing and guns blazing to the tune of Bang Bang!

YASMIEN KURDI (Dolores Macabuhay) made a very strong statement as she went down the stage singing Megan Trainor’s ‘All About The Bass’ greeting all the fans in the audience.

The YAGIT KIDS –  Chlaui, Zymic, Judie, Jemwell and Steph also prepared an ‘Up Town Funk’ dance number for the fans.  They also danced with all the Mascots of Enchanted Kingdom after that.

The cast of YAGIT also presented a gift to He Cares Foundation –  Electric Fans that the group can use to help cool down the rooms of their caring centers especially this summer.  It was indeed a fun and meaningful afternoon for both the cast of YAGIT and all who visited the Enchanted Kingdom last Sunday.

YAGIT airs weekdays on GMA Afternoon Prime after The Half Sisters.
