Also known as the ‘Rock Star Pope’ or the ‘People’s Pope’, Pope Francis is now only a couple of hours away from his scheduled visit here in the Philippines.  Probably the biggest and most memorable event that will happen in the country this year – and since the 1995 World Youth Day event.

Filipinos nationwide, especially the Catholic faithfuls are all geared up for the visit.  Caritas Manila, the social arm of the Archdiocese of Manila will be sending urban poor delegation to the Pope’s Encounter with Families at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 16 (Friday).  The Catholic Youth Organization in the Philippines, one of the oldest mandated youth organization in the Philippines (since 1938) along  with other Catholic youth ministries will be participating also in two Papal Visit 2015 events: The Pope’s Meeting With The Youth at the UST Grandstand on January 18 and the Concluding Papal Visit Mass at the Quirino Grandstand also on January 18.

In an interview earlier over DZMM teleradyo, Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan of the Archdiocesan Commission on Youth (ACY) reminded the young people to take to heart two important things when participating in the Papal Visit events:

LISTEN. As the Vicar of Christ, Pope Francis’ primary mission and responsibility is to spread and teach the good news.  To bring Christ’s  message of hope and love.  Therefore, to be able to see him; to be able to take a photo of him on his ‘Pope Mobile’; or to even be able to kiss his hand during his visit, are only secondary to hearing his message and understanding it by heart.

TRANSLATE TO MISSION. In my experience during the 1995 World Youth Day where Saint Pope John Paul II is present, the whole event resulted to a renewed vigor in the Catholic Church and its mission where the youth has played a big part.  Many of those who attended accepted Saint PJPII’s challenge and brought about a new hope and new life in the whole Church.

Pope Francis’s message rings loudly all over the world and even in cyberspace.  Here are 10 of the most meaningful quotes from Pope Francis found on the internet.
