Fresh from her #FearlessTheRepeat Concert at the Music Museum last Friday (November 14), Soul Princess Jonalyn Viray goes face-to-face with the Payatas Kids Choir for a very special and intimate outreach birthday celebration held yesterday (November 19) at the Ina Ng Lupang Pangako Parish in Payatas, Quezon City.
Jonalyn who turned 25 last Saturday (November 15) started her career as a professional singer after winning Pinoy Pop Superstar in 2005, she went on to receive various recognition for her vocal talents including five gold medals and three championship plaques from the World Championships of Performing Arts in 2006 held in California, USA. She was also a member of the girl group La Diva along with fellow ‘birit queens’ Maricris Garcia and Aicelle Santos.
2014 seems like a good year for Jonalyn, aside from Sunday All Stars, she also staged two successful major solo concerts at the Music Museum and starred in the indie film “Cattleya: An OFW Story” together with Glaiza De Castro and the event host yesterday at Payatas, Tess Bomb.
Sharing more than her blessings but also some words of wisdom to the young members of the Payatas Kids Choir, Jonalyn Viray together with her GMA Artist Center family and sponsors Monreo Biscuits, Active White, Sundance, Thai Tea, Mogu Mogu and Zagu, attended a special meet and greet con jamming session at the third floor of the Ina Ng Lupang Pangako Parish in Payatas.
Jonalyn started the quick jamming session with the song ‘Because You Love Me’ – the Payatas Kids Choir answered back with a medley of ‘pinoy’ themed songs.
The Payatas Kids Choir, according to their conductor-trainor Catherine Enciong, has been around for eight years now. The group was started through the initiative of the former Parish Priest of Ina Ng Lupang Pangako Parish to enhance the image of the Payatas community and is composed of Payatas residents aged 9 to 19 years old. Enciong who has been the group’s conductor for four years now is currently training the kids for international competitions. The Payatas Kids Choir sings every first Sunday at the Ina Ng Lupang Pangako.
Aside from the Jamming session, Jonalyn also donated to the Payatas Kids Choir a keyboard and a guitar that they can use for their practice session.
Jonalyn said that her meet up with the group is really close to her heart. She recalls her choir singing days in High School and if given the opportunity to mentor or share her experiences with young people and other amateur singing groups – she will gladly accept.
This holiday, Jonalyn will also re-launch her Christmas single ‘Bawat Pasko’ composed by Tata Betita. An emotionally-charged Christmas tune dedicated to missed loved ones during the holidays. The singer also plan to come out with an all-original studio album next year and hopes for more concert project.
