I was at GRACES or Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and other Special Cases (formerly known as Golden Acres Home for the Aged) last Thursday morning! This is my second time visiting the place this year, the last time was in January with actress Sheena Halili.
It has been a tradition for the GMA Artist Center to provide opportunities for their talents to give back or share their blessings to the less fortunate and marginalized sectors of society. They connect these popular personalities to the people outside the showbiz environment to bring with them a sense of hope, happiness and inspiration – things that money can’t buy but they can deliver well. In return, these young talented individuals learn a thing or two about the society that they live in and also learn to value their blessings more. Just one of the things that I really admire about this talent organization and the people behind it like Simoun Ferrer, Mark Sablan, Rochelle Tuazon, Janica Buce and all the other members of the team.
Anyway, six (6) September-born GMA Artist Center talents came to celebrate their birthdays with the ‘lolos’ and ‘lolas’ of GRACES that Thursday (September 25) and they were: Arianne Bautista (September 1), Maricris Garcia (September 26), Mayton Eugenio (September 14), Frencheska Farr (September 9), Rita De Guzman (September 15) and Julian Trono (September 16).
Mabuhay ang mga ipinanganak ng September! (bias.. hehehe)
Aside from Rita De Guzman who have visited GRACES a couple of times already, this is a first time experience for all the other five celebrities. Maricris Garcia, Rita De Guzman and Frencheska Farr performed a song number for their elderly guests, Mayton Eugenio and Julian Trono danced with GRACES residents while Arianne Bautista helped Tess Bomb in hosting the birthday-outreach program.
The whole program was sponsored by Zanea, Monreo Biscuits, Minute Burger and Tous Le Jours.
After the program, rainCHECK was able to talk to the five Kapuso birthday celebrants to get some updates on their latest projects and other stuff:
Arianne is part of the newest batch of Kapuso artists launched last March by the GMA Artist Center. She’s a commercial model and the star of the YouTube video-blog Jorgendipity. More about Arianne HERE.
Currently, Arianne is going to do some acting workshops in preparation for an upcoming show on GMA where she will play the role of a ‘Kontrabida.’ She’s also busy managing a restaurant business called Tornado Peri Peri Chicken that recently opened a new branch at E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave., Cubao – their first branch is located at Maginhawa St., UP Village, Quezon City.
Rita De Guzman
Rita is a singer-actress who entered the entertainment industry in 2005 after winning QTV’s PopStar Kids. She’s now currently in the primetime soap Strawberry Lane together with Bea Binene, Joyce Ching, Kim Rodriguez and Joanna Marie Tan. She will be coming out with a debut album sometime before the end of the year under GMA Records. She already recorded four songs including ‘Di Lang Ikaw’ which she sang during the Sam Tsui and Kurt Hugo Schneider Concert in Manila last June.
Rita is currently studying at the College of St. Benilde.
Maricris is known for being the winner of the third season of Pinoy pop Superstar and a member of the vocal trio La Diva which ruled the variety show SOP since 2008. Maricris is part of the upcoming GMA afternoon prime show YAGIT as the antagonist Cece against the character of Dolores who will be played by Yasmien Kurdi.
French is 2009’s Are You The Next Big Star Champion! Super tanned and sexier than ever, she will be having a Free birthday concert on October 16 at the Teatrino. Aside from the concert, French will also be part of the upcoming GMA primetime series Second Chances with Jennylyn Mercado, Camille Prats, Raymart Santiago, Luis Alandy, Rafael Rosell and directed by Laurice Guillen.
Mayton is the daughter of dance guro Geleen Eugenio. She started her acting career in the 2011 GMA series Time Of My Life and went on to do other shows like Magdalena (2012) and Dormitoryo (2013). This year she will be joining the Elmo Magalona and Janine Gutierrez love team in the upcoming romantic-comedy primetime series More Than Words.
Julian has just finished doing the hit primetime series Nino. He is currently busy with film school and plans to re-open his dance studio this year. He is also part of the movie ‘Liwanag Sa Dilim’ which stars Bea Binene and Jake Vargas.
