118211_galIt’s rare to see a film so magnificently executed that it leaves you breathless after watching it – a movie worth watching over and over again just like a hit music video.  Guardians of the Galaxy is one of those kinds of film!

I can’t stress enough how this film have brought back my faith in the movie industry specially in the sci-fi genre.  There were a lot of good sci-fi films that came out but all of them didn’t come near the legacy of the Star Wars Saga not even the new Star Trek movies, and then Marvel risked on producing a film adaptation of the comic book series Guardians of the Galaxy as a filler prior to the next Avengers movie – and history will now know it as one of the biggest sci-fi movies of all time comparable to George Lucas’ late 70’s and early 80’s Star Wars trilogy and the late 90’s and early 2000’s Star Wars Prequel Episodes I, II and III.

JJ Abrams who was handpicked to write and direct Star Wars Episode VII must be shaking right now down to his boots after the success of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now how could a person go from writing Scooby Doo, Dawn of the Dead and Slither do an epic-in-the-making Super Hero Sci-Fi movie is a complete mystery – but I did love Gunn’s Slither by the way.

There have already been a lot of reviews that came out about Guardians of the Galaxy and I am yet to find a write-up that talks about the movie in a negative way.  I couldn’t find any because it’s a damn good movie!  The superb acting of the whole cast, the near flawless CGI animation, the non-theatrically traditional costumes and creature concepts, the gripping action, the awesome story with all its twists and turns and of course the humor!

With the over-all success of the film, talks about a sequel was already confirmed and the possibility of an Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy crossover film is already on the table.

Credits goes to all the wonderful actors Chris Pratt (Peter Quill aka Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora the adopted daughter of Thanos), Dave Bautista (Drax The Destroyer), Lee Pace (Ronan the Kree), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu Udonta the Leader of the Ravagers), Djimon Hounsou (Korath an Intergalactic Hunter), Glenn Close (Nova Prime), Benecio Del Toro (The Collector), and the voices of Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Josh Brolin (Thanos) and Seth Green (Howard The Duck).

3D or not this movie is a hurricane!  There’s nothing more to say but I AM GROOT!

  1. I watched it last night and I didn’t even know those guys. I thought it would be boring (because I find the movie trailer lacking substance, for someone who’s not a comic geek), But it was one of those movies that made me say “this movie was worth every buck.”

    1. Yup, no big names there. The same with Star Wars when it first came out in 1977 – Mark Hamill (Luke), Carrie Fisher (Lea) and Harrison Ford were small actors way back then. I think we could say that this was a risk worth taking. 🙂 Thanks for reading @theskychic – BTW, I followed your wordpress blog. 🙂
