Picture2The 4th Bulihan Festival is all set and ready to go!

Residents of the town of Sampaloc in Quezon Province are now ready for the province’s grandest festival this year scheduled on April 23 to 26, the 4th Bulihan Festival will feature food shows, pahiyas contest and boat racing.

“Through this festival (Bulihan), we give jobs to our residents, and we are able to promote tourism. There’s so much fun and excitement here. I hope they will visit us soon. Discover Sampaloc now!”  Mayor Emmanuel Torres said while campaigning for the town festival.

The 4th Bulihan Festival starts on April 23 with a food show that will feature all the native delicacies of the town in a program called LUTUING SAMPALUKIN.  Fourteen (14) barangays from Sampaloc will take part in the food show.  Houses will be in festive colors and decorations on April 24, as Blooming Sampaloc choose from among the 46 houses vying for the most outstanding house during the Pahiyas Parade.  On April 25, the Paradang Bayan 2014 will take place, followed by the awarding of the Search for Natatanging Anak ng Sampaloc.  On April 26 comes the Lunesan ng Fiesta sa Ilog to be held on the Maapon River in Kakati, where residents will join in a boat race and hold picnics by the river.

Mayor Torres encouraged constituents to invite their friends from all over the country to join in the festival’s events.  In promoting the fiesta, the local government has launched a homestay program where residents of Sampaloc offer to“adopt” visitors for the duration of the event.
