1977420_779665092060900_371354403_nOur third AVIDA FOOD HUNT stop last March 8 (Saturday) was a place called 8065 BAGNET!

Just like BON BANHMI, this place is as humble as the local carenderia on the outside however it’s anything but a ‘carenderia’ on the inside!  The restaurant which can be found along the street of Estrella in Barangay San Antonio Village in Makati City is owned by partners Jeff Tuason and Alain Nadal, the brother of popular Filipino singer Kitchie Nadal.

8065 BAGNET is a homey family dining area that is fast gaining a reputation of being an art deco hangout with a Bohemian vibe as several paintings and book shelves filled with various and dissimilar titles, paperbacks and hardbound in full display.  The tables and chairs are all unique: No two sets are alike!

Here’s a visual tour (pardon the low quality images.. in need of a new camera, sponsors anyone? hehe):

Inside, our AVIDA FOOD HUNT host CHEF JJ YULO led us to this tiny door that leads to this tiny staircase going to the 2nd floor private function area of the establishment where we had our delicious full meal of the day.

We were served with the restaurant’s signature dishes ORIGINAL BAGNET and BAGNET KARE-KARE paired with a hefty serving of cooked plain white rice and a bottle of Coke 1.5L.  How Filipino can you get?

“Nakakagana kumain talaga!”

BAGNET for those who don’t know yet is a local Filipino dish indigenous to the northern part of Luzon particularly in Vigan in the Ilocos region.  It is similar to the Lechon Kawali (only the preparation is different) and is also known as the Spanish Chicharron.

They have other dishes of course aside from Bagnet, however, interestingly they do have a lot of variants for the local dish like: Dinuguan Bagnet, Curry Bagnet, Binagoongang Bagnet, Bagnet in Spicy Gata and the Bagnet Sisig.

And that’s what I call Deadly Delicious!

These are meals to ‘die’ for!

Thinking about those dishes almost gave me a heart attack!

8065 BAGNET is only about 5 to 10 mins away (depending on how badly you want your Bagnet Meal) from AVIDA TOWERS ASTEN which is located along the streets of Yakal and Malugay.  You can actually walk from Avida Asten to 8065 Bagnet without even breaking a sweat.

Our Itinerary

8065 BAGNET is destination number 3 of our AVIDA FOOD HUNT.  First was TITANIA WINE BAR and the second, BON BANHMI.  Our next two destinations speaks Chinese and French-Japanese.  It’s also located in Barangay San Antonio Village Makati and near the AVIDA TOWERS ASTEN.  Can you guess what restaurants I am talking about? (Hint: Check out the map above hehe)
