After visiting more than 50 cities worldwide since last year to celebrate the brand’s 30th year milestone, the CASIO SHOCK THE WORLD TOUR has finally landed in MANILA!
SHOCK THE WORLD MANILA 2014 which was held yesterday (February 28) at the Hyve in BGC, Taguig was graced by no other than the Father of G-SHOCK himself – MR. KIKUO IBE. The creator and master innovator of the infamous brand of indestructible time pieces even spoke his presentation in Filipino.
Mr. Ibe recalls the many adventures that he had while thinking of ways on how to engineer a watch that is virtually immune to all kinds of environmental conditions and it all started with secret experimentation done in his secret laboratory which is the Men’s CR (comfort room) of their old R&D building in Japan. Testing then his prototypes by dropping it from the windows up to the 3rd level of the building. Today, G-SHOCK watches are tested in high-tech facilities that would subject each prototypes in the most harsh conditions possible that will test its shock resistance, centrifugal-gravity resistance, vibration-resistance and other tests that will ensure the watch’s longevity. Some of their toughest brands were tested for freeze-and-thaw, sand blasting, heavy rains and even had it rolled over by a ten-wheeler truck. SHOCKING!
Anyway, also present during the event were TETSUSHI ICHIMORI, the Sales Manager of Casio Timepiece Overseas Division, MARIO SERRANO, the Director for Sales Operation of Berlewmond Trading Corp (Casio Watches Philippines) and CHARLENE HUNG, the Marketing Officer of Casio Watches Philippines who presented G-SHOCKS newest line of watches including collaborative time pieces (Eminem. Louie Vito), Rangeman watches, the MT-G (Metal Twisted), the awesome Bluetooth watches and the limited edition SHOCK THE WORLD MANILA WATCH.
