Fresh from the Box Office scene, Robin Padilla (10,000 Hours) and Daniel Padilla (PagPag) returns to Philippine cinema together in SA NGALAN NG AMA, INA, AT MGA ANAK.
In an interview held at the Star Cinema office, Robin Padilla said that the movie is three years in the making. It went through a rigorous process of production and a lot of scheduling problems but it all turned out well and the delays came out to be a blessing in disguise.
Mariel Rodriguez who is also present during the film’s bloggers conference said that SA NGALAN NG AMA, INA AT MGA ANAK is her first action film and also her first time playing the role of a mother.
SA NGALAN NG AMA, INA, AT MGA ANAK is a joint project of Star Cinema and RCP Productions and it assembles the iconic Padilla clan for the very first time in one gigantic action movie. The movie also stars Kylie Padilla, Bella Padilla, RJ Padilla and Matt Padilla.
The film according to Robin Padilla is a true-to-life action-packed family drama fiction that is loosely based on the life story of Ongkoy (played Robin Padilla) who was once the leader of the infamous anti-vigilante group “Kuratong Baleleng” that gained notoriety in Ozamiz City during the 70s. It addresses the truth and lies that shrouded the “Kuratong Baleleng” 70s controversy. The movie valiantly proves that love of family and for country will always prevail despite troublesome times.
For those who didn’t know, the word Kuratong Baleleng came from the southern musical instrument also known as the Darling Bells that is most commonly used to warn the people of an impending danger.
This socio-historic action drama offers myriad insights that will surely touch the hearts of every Filipino from the ideology that each person can be a hero not only to the country but also to friends and family as well; to the universal law that no bad deed shall go unpunished. At the very core of the movie are the undying spirits of both truth and justice that celebrate the transformative power of good deeds done with great passion and good faith.
Initially titled as Kuratong Baleleng, the production finally settled with SA NGALAN NG AMA, INA AT MGA ANAK to emphasize on the essence of the whole story – which is all about the love of family and solidarity.
The story is a combination of mysticism, action-fiction and history. However, Robin stressed that the film expresses a great deal of reality in it. Viewers from all ages will get something from it.
SA NGALAN NG AMA, INA, AT MGA ANAK premiered at Geegee Mall Cinema 1 in Ozamiz where thousands of fans flocked to see and meet the cast live and in person.
Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez also announced that a PART TWO of the film is already on the story table. When asked about the inclusion of brother Rustom (BB Gandanghari) in the sequel, Robin said that if he has his way, he would always include Rustom in all his films, but as Rustom and not BB. He also said that it was Rustom who refused to join the film.
However, Robin did mention that the two of them will probably do a movie together soon. It’s going to be a gay-themed film so Rustom can be BB in this one.
SA NGALAN NG AMA, INA, AT MGA ANAK is directed by Jon Villarin and it also stars Christopher De Leon, Dina Bonnevie, Rommel Padilla, Karla Estrada, Pen Medina, Lito Pimentel, Dennis Padilla, Aljur Abrenica, and Bugoy Carino among many others.
