For those who just woke up and are too slow on the pick-up, I’ll give you a blow-by-blow on the guidelines before the end of this post, complete with pretty pictures and links to the site, but before that, let me just show you what 85 years are worth when it comes to the evolution of one of the most important tool ever invented by man – the TELEPHONE.

It was not Alexander Graham Bell who invented the telephone, however, he was the first one to received a patent on it.  The concept of acoustic telegraphy (a fancy way of calling the modern telephone) was conceived as early as 1854 from the ideas of many inventors including Antonio Meucci, Johann Philip Reis, Elisha Gray, Tivadar Puskas, Thomas Edison and of course Alexander Graham Bell.

Here in the Philippines, the first telephone system was established in Manila in the year 1890.  PLDT was born by a merger in 1928 and check out how the type of phones have changed throughout those years:

  1. It feels ultimately great to be able to see an actual old phone like those images you posted here. I have seen an old one at a store somewhere in Cubao I think that’s inside Cubao Expo. The store sells memorabilias like the old phones as a collectible item.
