Bit by Bit Company in cooperation with the PETA Theater Center and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) staged a kick-off event for their latest production MAXIE THE MUSICAL based on the Michiko Yamamoto screenplay and the 2005 award-winning coming-of-age indie film “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros” by UFO Pictures directed by Auraeus Solito.
The kick-off party dubbed as “Patikim Ng Shlight” was held at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute of CCP hosted by Publicist Joselito ‘Toots’ Tolentino.
The production’s composers and musical directors WILLIAM ELVIN MANZANO, JJ PIMPINIO and JANINE SANTOS were joined by other casts ALLEN MAMAID, KRISTINE JOAN VILLANUEVA, JC SANTOS, JONAH RUIZ, JULES DELA PAZ, NEIL TOLENTINO, REGIL RORROMEO, VAN QUIAONG and VIA ANTONIO to perform six (6) of the 28 numbers included in the stage musical.
Palanca Hall of Famer and playwright ATTY. NICOLAS PICHAY wrote the book and all the original lyrics for the musical while ‘Orosman and Zafira’ director and choreographer DEXTER M. SANTOS works his magic once again this time for MAXIE.
Check out below the videos of their live performances last Friday for the songs: Gising-Gising, Hikbi, Pelikula, Tabo-Tabo, Love Letter and Bekimon.
Also present during the kick-off event are the show’s producers ATTY. DARWIN MARIANO and CARLO MIGUEL FRANCIA.
I can’t wait to see MAXIE THE MUSICAL on stage from November 9 to December 8 at the PETA Theater Center in New Manila Quezon City. Hopefully the producers will also come out with a soundtrack because all the songs are really wonderful.
