World Vision Philippines is one of the leading Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities for the well being of the poor and vulnerable people through Emergency Relief, Sustainable Community Development and Engagements with policymakers as well as the public at the grassroots, national, regional and global levels to promote awareness, involvement and government policies that alleviate poverty and advocate for justice.
During a lunch event yesterday (April 23) at Anabel’s Tomas Morato, World Vision Philippines introduced the four (4) challenger-champions of Celebrities For Children. They are TV host Christine Bersola-Babao, entrepreneur Cristalle Belo Henares, movie and TV actress Anne Curtis Smith and beauty queen Miriam Quiambao.
The participating World Vision celebrities will prove that they are more than just pretty faces – they have the heart to help.
Christine Bersola-Babao discovered World Vision at the mall years ago after reading a brochure of the group and has since then became an active child sponsor of World Vision Philippines. Tin-Tin was also able to share her advocacy to friends when she suggested the option of sponsoring a world vision child in lieu of gifts during birthday celebrations.
Miriam Quiambao on the other hand is the first celebrity endorser of World Vision and this was way back in 2000. To date, Miriam has sponsored over 10 kids and already have three graduates under her sponsorship.
Each celebrity challenger will have 3 months (from April 23 to July 23) to complete any of the following tasks:
- 300 sponsorships via credit card or annual sponsorships, or
- 150 sponsorships via credit card or annual sponsorships via other means (check, cash) and at least 1,080,000 one-time donation, or
- at least 2 million as one-time donation.
A microsite is designed as a venue where challengers’ supporters can sign up. Their supporters just need to use the link assigned to the celebrity for sign up to be credited accordingly. Aside from the World Vision microsite, the challenger may use his/her own websites or SNS to promote their respective links. The challenger who first gets to have 300 children sponsored wins.
The first placer will win a personal and meaningful journey to World Vision Africa while the second placer will win a journey to World Vision India. All challengers will receive special awards from World Vision Philippines as a token of their appreciation for their voluntary participation in the Celebrities For Children campaign.
