Just the other day while having meryenda with 2013 Senatoriable and Aurora Congressman SONNY ANGARA, I found out that he too was a new wave kind of person, having lived his childhood in one of the most exciting decade ever – the 80’s (read more about my interview with the congressman this weekend). If you’ve lived during that period you’ll know what I mean but if you want to see some of the images that defined it check out my post FOR THE 80’s KID
Speaking of the 80’s, two bands from that era will visit the country for a concert in May at the Mall of Asia Arena. 80’s kid will go gaga again over two of the most prominent new wave bands that ruled the airwaves and street night dance parties. Ageing but still rocking bands like the ALARM and MODERN ENGLISH.
THE ALARM an alternative, punk-rock new wave band formed in 1981 at North Wales conquered the underground music scene with songs like The Stand, Absolute Reality, Rain in the Summertime and Rescue Me. Just some of the songs that I remembered having on my playlists recorded via a cassette tape recorder.
While MODERN ENGLISH on the other hand is one of the bands that really sets the tone for the pure New Wave era with songs like I Melt With You, Hands Across The Sea, Life in the Glad House and Ink and Paper.
This back-to-back concert will happen on May 3, 8pm at the Mall of Asia Arena. Dubbed as Back to the 80s Concert Party featuring Modern English and The Alarm LIVE in Manila!, this is bound to be one of the biggest 80’s reunion concert of the year. And I have a ticket already! Yeay!
The concert is presented by NOVUHAIR, MIDAS HOTEL, ABS-CBN, ASAP 18 and DMC PHILIPPINES. Tickets are now available online at SM TICKETS www.smtickets.com or you can call 470-2222.
