Coffee Prince aired its finale last November 23 over GMA-7’s primetime block, completing a run that began October 8. The short stint though did not shortchange viewers from seeing an ALJUR ABRENICA who delivered the goods through a noticeable improved acting.
Aljur said.
THE COFFEE PRINCE
Aljur Abrenica has earned more than just additional good exposure after starring in the Filipino version of the Korean hit series . Fans have expressed delight that the Al-Kris chemistry did not waver despite being laid dormant in recent stretches which saw them working their way up on TV via separate projects.
In an interview last Tuesday (November 27) at GMA, Aljur expressed sadness that the series had a short life span, considering that friendship among the cast already tightened up, almost in perfect complement to the development of their acting craft.
He also said that he’s glad that a lot of people have taken notice of the improvement in his acting style. His past acting projects have been under the scrutiny of critics and have been branded as ‘wooden acting’ by some. But in Coffee Prince, the young actor showed a more focus and more determined attack on his character.
Aljur explained.
Aljur Abrenica also denied allegations that he’s moving to another TV Station. He said that his loyalty is with the GMA network.
“Wala akong plan of changing station at walang offer. Nag end ang contract ko with GMA last March this year pero ang sabi nila automatic renewal yun kaya I still have another 5 years with GMA.”
We asked Aljur that if ever he did switched TV allegiance, who from the ABS CBN female talents would he choose to be partnered with and he chose Kim Chiu and Jessy Mendiola.
Aside from Coffee Prince, Aljur Abrenica will have roles in the upcoming movies Sosy Problems, Topel Lee’s Basement, The Kilabots (with Jose and Wally) and Kuratong Baleleng (with Robin Padilla and real life Girlfriend Kylie Padilla).
He will also have a cameo role in the Bong Revilla GMA Epic Fantasy Series INDIO and also another unconfirmed teleserye on GMA. There’s no formal announcement about the GMA teleserye project but it was said that Aljur would most likely be partnered with Sarah Lahbati.
ALJUR – KYLIE
Speaking of partners, Aljur said that although there are no offers yet, he’s really looking forward for a project with girlfriend Kylie Padilla. He also said that she’s really very happy with how Kylie’s career is going right now.
Aljur also said that their relationship is official and although everyone knows about it already, he still prefers to keep their relationship private. Kylie is the daughter of action star Robin Padilla. While Aljur is a devout Catholic, Kylie on the other hand is a Muslim. Like I said during the interview, their relationship is a real-life HARAM story. HARAM is the Dingdong and Kylie GMA teleserye that didn’t pushed through because of some religious undercurrents.
“The thing that I love about Kylie is that even if she’s still very young meron siyang prinsipyo at paninindigan. And ganun din ako, kaya kami siguro nagkakasundo. Aljur said.
Although he was vocal about his affection for Kylie, Aljur said that he’s not yet ready to give up the Catholic faith. He was born a Catholic, a Bosconian in Bacolor, Pampanga and he said that although religion is a big issue here it shouldn’t be for two people who are in love.
It was a very casual afternoon with Aljur Abrenica at the GMA Network Building and we took the time of getting to know more about the real person behind the former Star Struck Ultimate Hunk winner.
What are the major changes that happened to your life?
How did you get involved in Showbiz?
Back then I was really involved na in my music kasi.
Who are your best friends in showbiz?
Sef Cadayona, Rocco Nacino, Mark Herras, Enzo Pineda and Dennis Trillo
What’s a non-showbiz day like for Aljur Abrenica?
Do you have any regrets in joining showbiz?
Do you have any plans other than showbiz like going into business?
Yes I do, pero gusto ko unahin muna yung house for the family before investing sa business. I plan to get a house here in Metro Manila para malapit sa mga schools para sa mga kapatid ko. Next year, plan ko din i pursue yung milk tea business na inaaral ko ngayon. It’s called CHADO, a healthy milk tea brand from Thailand. I’m in the process of looking for store locations pa.
What are your plans for the holidays?
Family lang, simple gathering. Di naman kami masyado lumalabas. Konting salo-salo sa bahay namin sa Batangas, fireworks, inuman at kantahan. Reunion.
Aljur Abrenica’s career can only get better with a renewed faith in his acting capabilities brought by the many praises he received from his recent project with GMA. Aljur is also on the cover of Men’s Health Magazine for December – a truly great year-ender for the young Kapuso star that has really made his mark in show business.
