Yesterday’s Bride debuted last October 29 and currently getting the attention of afternoon TV viewers because of its compelling story line and the awesome chemistry between the lead characters.
Directed by Gil Tejada Jr., Lovi Poe plays Andrea, a simple, loving, blue-collar worker, who fell in love with Justin (Rocco Nacino), son of a wealthy couple who own a furniture factory where she’s employed. Their dreams were derailed by a tragedy of epic proportions.
A car accident sends Andrea to a hospital in a coma. Mysteriously the place is later gutted out by fire while she is still confined, giving Justin and family members surrounding them the impression that she died with it.
But fate, however, intervenes and she wakes up in time to escape from the fire and into the care of one Dr. Celso Agustin (Luis Alandy). As a result of these tragic sequences, she forgets her past (because of Amnesia) and adopts a new name, Lorraine. She and the doctor fall for each other, but quickly finds herself in a dilemma when she recovers her memory and that of the groom she is supposed to marry.
“I am used to playing independent and strong women. It’s different this time around, more of being the martyr-type. It’s challenging because there are adjustments in my attack, coming from strong female characters,” shares the actress who has been surprising audiences with her provocative performances in movies like Sagrada Familia, My Neighbor’s Wife, Aswang and Tiktik.
Aside from Yesterday’s Bride, Lovi Poe will also be featured in two movies for the Metro Manila Film Festival this December, THY WOMB with the Superstar Ms. Nora Aunor and Regal Films’ SHAKE, RATTLE and ROLL with Bong Navarro.
“In Shake, Rattle and Roll – girlfriend ako ni Bong (Navarro) dito and magkaka-baby ako pero hindi ako magiging masaya sa mga nangyari – doon magsisimula ang kwento. Medyo futuristic ang theme ng story and hindi naman s’ya comedy – slight lang. Although Bong Navarro is a naturally funny person kaya medyo nakakatawa na din.”
“It’s a good year for me but I won’t say that it’s the best year because I stil want it to get better.” Says Lovi
Lovi Poe is also doing THE BRIDE AND THE LOVER with Paolo Avelino and Jennylyn Mercado. The movie was originally set for release this November but will rather be shown during the first quarter of next year because the production are having a hard time of reconciling the schedules of the casts for the shoot.
“The Bride and the Lover is not an affair film. It tells about a story of friendship and love. It asks the question – ‘Saan ka mas masasaktan o kanino ka mas masasaktan – pag niloko ka ng best friend mo o pag niloko ka ng lover mo? May angle ng love triangle sa story pero it’s not what you’d expect. Audiences will have a hard time distinguishing who is the lover and the bride in the story. It’s up to the audience to make their own conclusion.” Lovi explains
Another movie that LOVI POE is doing next year is LIHIS with Jake Cuenca and Baron Geisler. It’s an Indie film by Joel Lamangan. She’s still not sure when the project will commence but based on the story, Lovi shared that it’s going to be a period film and that she’s really very excited to do the film.
In other matters, Lovi said that she’ll be supporting GRACE POE LLAMAAZARES’ Senatorial Bid and hopes to have the time to help her with the campaign. She also recalled with an inspired smile on her face what Grace said to her during the premiere of TikTik – “Papa, would have been proud.”
Lovi Poe’s contract with GMA Artist Center ends March next year but she has no definite plans yet on what to do after that. Although there have been rumors about her moving to ABS CBN but the young actress is still silent about the issue.
Another issue that remains silent with Lovi Poe is her love life. Although she admits that she’s dating people or meeting people but she prefers to put her ‘Love Life On Hold.’
Next year will indeed be another interesting year for LOVI POE.
