Happening Today! The Catholic Church in the Philippines celebrates the opening of the YEAR OF FAITH (Oct 2012 – Nov 2013).

The opening of the Year of Faith coincides with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the release of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  The YEAR OF FAITH is a call for all Christians to rediscover the vitality of the faith they have inherited.  It also serves as an invitation for everyone to look closely at the contemporary world, its beauty and wounds.

“The continuity of the Church through the ages allows various forms of renewal. The Church receives, celebrates and lives the faith in different historical settings with their unique demands and challenges” said Manila Archbishop and now cardinal-designate Luis Antonio G. Tagle

Cardinal Tagle officiates the formal opening of the YEAR OF FAITH at the Parish of the San Fernando De Dilao in Paco, Manila.  Just a few blocks from our place. 🙂
