GLOC-9 Hailed as New Peace Ambassador of the Philippines (A Video Interview)

Last Friday (September 14), GLOC-9 was awarded the title of NATIONAL PEACE AMBASSADOR by Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Malacanang Palace.  He shares this title with fellow Universal Records artists Christian Bautista, Noel Cabangon, Sam Concepcion and Kimpoy Feliciano.  Other personalities awarded the title were Anne Curtis, Apl De Ap, Gerald Anderson, Karylle, Derek Ramsay, Epy Quizon, Megan Young, Mikael Daez, Kiray Celis, Igi Boy Flores, Rovilson Fernandez, Ramon Bautista, Ebe Dancel, Moro artist Datu Khomeini Bansuan, fashion designers Arnold Galang, JC Buendia, and the Philippine Azkals.

The awarding ceremony signals the start of the  “I am for Peace” campaign, which seeks to engage all sectors of society in sustaining support for the country’s peace process and strengthen the government’s peace building platform.   It also aims to mobilize social engagements and information dissemination especially on the significant developments and milestones of the on-going Mindanao peace talks.

Prior to the day of the awarding ceremony, a special bloggers conference for GLOC-9 was held at the Universal Tower where he shared his excitement with the new title as Peace Ambassador.  The conference was organized by Universal Records Philippines in cooperation with Pinoy Magazine, Bands Magazine, LionHearTV and Francis M. Clothing Co.

“Nakita ko nga po yung list ng mga peace ambassadors at nagtataka nga ako at bakit nandoon ang pangalan ko.” Gloc-9 kids during the interview.

He also expressed his joy with the success of his new and first album under Universal Records Mga Kwento ng Makata (MKNM) and the carrier single “Sirena.”  A follow-up single will soon be released but Gloc-9 and the management of Universal Records is still not mentioning which of his songs in the album have been selected to come out next.

Gloc-9 or Aristotle Pollisco in real life emulates former Eheads Raymund Marasigan, Ely Buendia and the bands Kamikaze and Parokya ni Edgar but is forever grateful to Francis M – his biggest Idol.

“Lagi kong sinasabi na wlang next Francis M.  Francis M is Francis M.  Yung passion n’ya towards music is very inspiring.  May isang show kami ni Francis dati, mga 11 lang ang dumating para manood pero ang performance na binigay n’ya ay pang concert stage pa rin.  Noong nakita ko yun parang nahiya ako sa sarili ko at na-realize ko na wala akong karapatan na mag-inarte. He told me, kahit isang libo o isa lang ang nanonood sa ‘yo dapat pareho pa rin ang performance mo.” – Gloc 9 Statement in Bands Magazine

According to  Box Garchitorena in an article at  Pinoy Magazine “MKNM is a definite keeper.  Walang tapon.  Do you absolutely have to have it?  I’ll give you this: I’m keeping this copy.”
