RainCHECKS “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”
Today’s movies never run out of superhero figures. From one Superhero to another – this time an alter ego that may seem like a bit unthinkable. How ’bout the President of the United States of America says writer Seth Grahame-Smith. Benjamin Walker plays Abraham Lincoln in this very imaginative fictional re-telling of a 19th Century American historical event. It’s just a feel-good pop movie that explores some remote possibilities – this should not alarm historical junkies. It’s one of those ‘what if’ stories that coins the very popular ‘vampire’ movie theme.
One thing I don’t really get about the movie is the use of silver in killing vampires. I thought that was supposed to be for werewolves? And the axe?… hmmm. Not really a good choice of concealable weapon against the most cunning of night creatures. Well, that was really a big character stretch in my opinion. Anyway, it was visually entertaining though.
Wishing for more substance on this one.
And oh, I think Liam Neeson would make a more convincing Lincoln than Benjamin Walker.
