If there is one person that I have admired in the Philippine entertainment industry from childhood until now – it is DOLPHY. The King of Philippine of Comedy.
The country mourns tonight as one of the icons of Philippine cinema succumbs to his illness. He was 83 years old. The announcement was confirmed by wife Zsa Zsa Padilla and family.
Dolphy (Rodolfo Vera Quizon, Sr.) was born on July 25, 1928 in the streets of Tondo, Manila. He started in showbiz as a stage performer and dancer and was later discovered as an actor with his first movie together with Fernando Poe Sr. in Dugo at Bayan.
Aside from his blockbuster films, he also lead the longest running TV sitcom ‘JOHN and MARSHA’ with Nida Blanca and ABS-CBN’s ‘Buhay Artista’ and ‘Home Along The Riles.’
He is one of the most successful artists who is able to perform both in Comedy and Drama.
We will miss you TiTo DOLPHY!
