It seems like SM City San Lazaro has become like a food hub for me. It’s becoming like a tradition actually. A few months ago, I went on a gastronomical adventure at their FOOD COURT with some friends. And now, I found myself back again at the SM City San Lazaro for another food tasting event last Saturday (June 16). But this time I came prepared because I purposely skipped lunch before going to the mall.
But boy.. was I wrong. No amount of fasting can really prepare anyone for the Sm City San Lazaro Food Tasting Activity. Heck, this is not a food-tasting event but an Extra Challenge.. haha. A challenge that I’d gladly go through anytime without hesitation.
What’s on the menu last Saturday?
Lots A Pizza
Antonio’s Bibingka + Coffee
Yes siree, six stores, all in one sitting. All of which can be found at the SM City San Lazaro FoodCourt.
SM City San Lazaro takes pride in being recognized as SM’s community mall in Manila. It’s built right at the heart of a densely populated residential area where the famous San Lazaro Race Track was once located.
So aside from the awesome shops and brands, SM City San Lazaro tries hard to make the mall as a perfect hangout for families and friends. A second home that offers relaxation, fun, entertainment and most especially great food.
And speaking of great food, what could go wrong with an order of flavored french fries? The most perfect companion to any kind of barkada activities – and that may have been the reason behind the name FRIENDS FRIES.
Another favorite traditional pinoy snack item that have recently joined the food cart bandwagon is ‘Binatog.’ BOY BINATOG is the first of its kind and the SM City San Lazaro Branch is the first BOY BINATOG outlet. The store started last May 1st and they have 3 more stores that are coming out – Boy Binatog SM City Sta. Mesa on the 30th and two (2) outlets at the SM City North EDSA on July 1st.
Binatog is boiled, salted corn kernels topped with grated coconut meat (niyog). The traditional binatog is usually that simple. I never imagined eating one, with toppings other than ‘niyog’ – but there’s always a first time for everything.
Boy Binatog is co-owned by well-loved TV personality Boy Abunda.
For the main course, MY PAO served us two of their best sellers: Chicken Asado Rice and Pork Oriental Noodles.
My Pao offers a 30% discount one hour before closing to all FoodCourt dining customers. So if you want to get that big savings.. have your late dinner at My Pao Sm City San lazaro. Here’s what their Food Stall look like:
LUGAW REPUBLIC sends their regards along with cups of their famous Lugaw Variants, Tokwa’t Baboy and Lumpiang Toge. I opted for the Lugaw with Egg and finished the whole cup even if I’m still not finished digesting that Pork Oriental Noodles
Just when we thought that we’ve had enough here comes LOTS A PIZZA with three boxes of Family Sized Pizzas. Lots a Pizza is one of my favorite brand of pizza – We feasted on three mouth-watering Lots A Pizza flavors: Great Manhattan, Purebeef Special and Pepperoni and Mushroom!
Last on the menu, but definitely not the least is ANTONIO’S BIBINGKA + COFFEE. Now aside from Boy Binatog, Antonio’s is one of SM City San Lazaro’s newest food court tenants. Antonio’s have other branches like the one at the SM North EDSA and now they’re here at SM City San Lazaro making waves and selling like hotcakes.. er, BIBINGKA.
We sampled their famous Bibingka and Puto Bumbong – ‘it’s beginning to taste a lot like Christmas.’ But the real life saver, after all of those wonderful dishes we ate is their awesome brewed coffee.
SM makes drinking water even more meaningful with its Distilled Drinking Water because for every bottle you buy 25 centavos goes to PROJECT WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene), in partnership with UNICEF, to help bring safe drinking water and sanitation to the children in Samar.
I’ll drink to that!
Till our next Food Trip adventure with Sm City San Lazaro – this is rain signing off. ’BURP!’
