I am an avid fan of the blog called KaBlog (sounds redundant).  It’s one of the very few sites that I follow in wordpress and I follow it because it amuses me.  It just never runs out of jokes and antics that really makes you smile from ear to ear.

Last April 24 at Packos Restaurant in Quezon City, I was able to meet its author singer-comedienne K Brosas or Maria Carmela Brosas in real life.  I just admire her so much because she’s one of the very few people in the entertainment industry who can actually sing good and connect with the audience and make them laugh at the same time.  She was once a member of the group “Gladys and the Boxers” that popularized the song ‘Sasakyan Kita’ which later became “K and the Boxers” when singer Gladys Guevarra left the group.

Together with another wonderful stand-up comedienne CHOKOLEIT (Jonathan Tabanag)  and veteran comedy concert director Andrew De Real, I was able to ask a few questions to the artist during their afternoon presscon for the up coming concert ’4 Da Best – The Repeat’ on May 4, 5, 11 and 12 at the Music Museum which is a follow-up to their successful stint last March.

Here are some really quotable quotes from the interview:

Well, that’s not true.

– K Brosas referring to the 4 Da Best performers, Chokoleit, Pooh, Pokwang and herself.

– Chokoleit, when asked why Pooh ang Pokwang is not present during the presscon.

– K Brosas reacts when someone said ‘sana makapanood kami ng concert’  :)

- Chokoleit

“Madami gusto mag-produce ng concert internationally, confirmed na ang U.S. shows from May to June at sa July naman yung Canada.”

“We consider ourselves as artists because we love what we do.”

When asked if they’ll be doing the show in English during the U.S and Canada concerts -

“We have to English ourselves?  Sila mag-adjust po.” – K Brosas

– Chokoleit

“Hindi lang kami basta pinag-sama dito ngayon, magkaka-kilala at magkaka-ibigan na kami noon pa.”

When asked if how many songs do they have in the concert -

Do you make mistakes during a show -

– K Brosas

Do you have arguments -

“Asarang magkaka-ibigan lang, walang open forum.  Sigawan lang, Bakla ka!  Syet ka!   Actually, walang pwede magmaganda.  Normal lang sa amin yun.”

When asked about her love life, K Brosas answered -

“Love life?  Six years nang wala. – ulul!   Choosy ako di lang halata.  It’s ok to be single for life kaysa you settle with less than what you deserve.  Ang gusto ko yung responsible hindi palamunin.  May edad na or ka age ko.   Stronger ang personality sa akin.”

How’s the market for stand-up comedy?

Who would you like to bring to your concert, people that you normally won’t see in comedy concerts?

– K Brosas

“I want to see Secretary De Lima para ma impersonate ko naman siya. – si Corona din.” – Chokoleit

– K Brosas

Who among the international stand-up comedy talents do you look up to?

“Ellen Degeneres (chokoleit), Wanda Sykes and Bette Midler (k brosas)”

Catch K Brosas, Chokoleit, Pooh and Pokwang on May 4, 5, 11 and 12 at the Music Museum for their one of a kind concert “4 Da Best – The Repeat” produced by Amine Entertainment and directed by Mamu Andrew De Real.  For tickets and reservations contact SM Tickets 470-2222 or at Ticketworld 8919999.  Ticke prices at 2, 750, 1980 and 1100.
