5 Girls and A Dad is written by award-winning writer, Lualhati Bautista and Directed by Elson S. Montalbo together with episode directors Rolly Palmes, Ray Duvanne De Leon and Mike Silva.
The series also showcase the dramatic and comedic talents of veteran character actor-director Leo Martinez (Jupiter – Veron’s Father) and Vangie Labalan (Venus – Enzo’s Mother).
According to Writer Lualhati Bautista, 5 Girls and A Dad tackles a timely theme and prevailing phenomenon and issue in Philippine society – single parent family. But instead of the usual single mother situation, the teleserye focus on a single blue-collar father.
“Magkahalo siya na Comedy at Drama pero wala siyang mga violence, power struggles, kidnappings – lahat naman yun makikita na natin sa News, di na natin kailangan yun sa programa.” added Bautista.
NET 25 had long wanted to have its own teleserye. But in keeping with its corporate mission and philosophy of offering only values-driven, 100% family-oriented wholesome programming, it took a longer time in selecting the right theme, story and script that fit the image.
Also present during the press conference were Net 25 Programming Head, Manolo De Lim and 5 Girls And A Dad Executive producer Michael Suarez.
