About the LISTS (Party Lists)
In the news today was the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) decision to proclaim Mikee Arroyo’s “Ang Galing Pinoy”, Angelo Reyes’ “1-UTAK”, and Mike Velarde’s ”Ang Buhay” parties as winners in the party-list race, but their nominees with pending disqualification cases will not be able to sit at the House of Representatives.
First of all, it was a legitimacy issue since day one but somehow they were allowed to run. COMELEC admittedly informed the public that although the three parties complied with all the requirements and was deemed fit and legal to run, they believe that a stricter and more comprehensive rules of evaluation should have been applied in qualifying the parties.
In an interview, Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casino told GMA TV Host Arnold Clavio that some of the parties that ran during the automated election was not really representing the marginalized sector but instead they represent big businesses and personal interests of other National Parties. Right now, the marginalized sector is still being marginalized in the party list representations, which is a structure that is supposed to be a podium where their voices can be heard.
Ang Galing Pinoy is supposed to be a party list of security guards and drivers – Mikey Arroyo was never ever employed as a guard or a driver nor has ever been involved in any organization that advocate for the two marginalized sector. Why is he representing this group?
Angelo Reyes was an army man and the Secretary of the Department of Energy, why the hell is he now involved with 1-UTAK which is a transport group?
Why is Bro. Mike Velarde representing a pro-life initiative? There are a lot of known and capable advocates who are involved with the pro-life initiative in many years. Why him?
I think we all know the answer to these questions even before the election started so the question really is, if there were some questions of legitimacy… why were these Party Lists allowed?
Another story i’ve heard was the possible next President NoyNoy Aquino’s expressed favorment of TV Showbiz Host and Columnist Boy Abunda to be a member of his Cabinet.
What would you expect, Boy played a major role in his campaign and of course he is Kris Aquino’s most loyal friend. In politics, Family and trust is always THE ISSUE. But for heaven’s sake! Boy Abunda????
It’s like one of bubble gang’s political satire coming true. Who’s next? Fanny Serano, Ricky Reyes, Lolit Solis, Kristy Fermin, Tim Yap… Butch Francisco?
Mr. possible next President… I was really hoping that you’ll prove me wrong for voting for somebody else. Please don’t do otherwise sir.
